MUA Matte Foundation Review

Please excuse my shit eyeliner today!

I bought this foundation not expecting miracles but hoping for them anyway. It costs £2 so I thought I would give it a go. This is my result as found by using the foundation without any primer/moisturizer. The foundation itself is really thick, It is similar to acrylic paint in consistency, personally I like a foundation to be thick as I like to use it generously, but this probably isn’t for those of you who just like a little coverage- (I found that if I tried to spread the foundation thinly it would become patchy/streaky). It covered spots and imperfections very well, and I do have very bad ones right now.

I use the MUA pressed powder over my liquid foundation, I usually use a round sponge to put this on rather than a powder brush as I like my heavy make up. When I put on my usual shade 1 MUA powder I found that the colour went really orange and dark, It also went quite patchy, but this went away with a but of smudging in with my fingers. The powder is slightly too dark for my skin usually but it seemed a lot more orange today, not sure why this should happen when the liquid foundation seemed so light.

After brushing over some lighter powder and my blusher (also MUA) the finished effect was similar enough to my usual foundation that I was quite pleased. However, I found it was quite shiny round my nostrils, and due to the thick formula it was very hard to blend at the neck, especially with the orange effect that came with the powder. I used to moisturiser to help with the blending process but found it did make my neck patchy.

The feel of the foundation while wearing it is comfortable, I always have a slight greasy feeling with liquid foundations, but this doesn’t really have that (only when you are putting it on does it feel odd) I have been wearing it today and it hasn’t worn off, however my nose creases do bother me. Overall for price you really cannot complain about this product, however I am hoping MUA will bring out a more diverse colour range as I do look very orange today!
